Mother love

A primeval urge, mother love. The senior daughter is home and I am a mother again. I shall probably blot my copybook very, very soon but it is marvellous to have her here. My only sadness is that the junior daughter is in London, and not feeling very well at all. She had been here for a few days, but went home on Tuesday - she is not strong because of her illness and struggles in her daily life. She and Possetta Baddog are so looking forward to seeing her sister in London this weekend. Family is a wonderful thing - and the three of us are a tight little unit.

The dogs were, as I said, beside themselves and this is one happy household. I am enjoying a gin and tonic, the senior daughter is snuggled down in her den sleeping off her jet lag, and all is right with the world. And - no, I am not an alchoholic!

Rest assured, there is nothing more comforting for a daughter, to go home to mum, all snugly, cosy and warm and lots of food!

Have a lovely weekend!

I hear a rumour that a large furry cat was also pleased to see senior daughter. Sorry about junior daughter, hope she improves soon.

Today is my son's 42 birthday...it doesn't seem possible, but they go from tiny babies, all soft and smelling those sweet heads, to rough, tough, and a father of teenagers in the blink of an eye, so savour every moment.
I don't get to see my son often, and it is so sad.
I know you will enjoy your daughters...

Yes, enjoy.

I am not sure how I will feel when all my children have left home. My daughter has not lived at home for several years (she is 21) but when she left I still had the three boys here so all I felt was excitement for her and her new life. I think I will probably feel differently when my youngest goes. Yikes! He's only 7 though so probably won't be going for a while yet.

The maternal urge is so strong though, isn't it? I still kind of want another child - would love a tiny baby again - but obviously it would be daft at my age and not really practical anyway. Sigh!
